New websites that rock

If you read TechCrunch and Mashable as much as I do you know there is a lot of noise and hype to filter through to get to the quality startups. Here’s a few of my favourite sites that I think have bright futures and will be able to shake off those “beta” tags from their logos.

  • Kongregate - Kongregate has done a great job setting up revenue sharing with developers and creating an addictive achievement system for players. Although they are my competitors, the founders, Jim & Emily Greer, are just too nice not give a plug to.
  • Seesmic - Video comment responses. This will either prove to be incredibly useful or a troll’s dream come true. I’m hoping for useful but the latter will be hilarious if nothing else.
  • I’m in Like With You - Flirting site turned multiplayer gaming. This website is 100% Flash based and very slick indeed. It makes OneMoreLevel look like a Geocities abomination that never escaped from 1998.
  • Team Pages - Team and League Management app in a nice Web 2.0 package. Plus they are fellow Canadians so that instantly makes them cool.
  • Friend Feed Feed - ” Aggregate all your social networking aggregator feeds into one aggregated feed of aggregator activity feeds!” I can’t start my day without first checking FFF to see what my friend feed feeds are up to.

Found any good sites? Share them in the comments!

All the websites are great in my mind and if you wanted to spread your title on the web as a developer, kongregate can go smoothly. Mochiads, not being high paying ecpm, is a good spreading tool though.

http://www.CasualCollective.com is an excellent site. The creators David Scott and Paul Preece are behind popular games such as Desktop Tower Defence and Flash Element TD. This site is the combined effort of both of them and host all there new games.

OML rocks, but Miniclip gives it a good run for its money - plenty of variety, good quality site and games, and many are downloadable.

I really like your honesty, and you’re an admirable person for suggesting websites that you’re competing with.

One more level provides the best casual gaming experience you can find.

Another game that is still in it’s BETA stages, is supremacy1914.com
It is fairly new but is a very advanced java game that sets you as one of the countries in Europe to battle your way through WW1 against other human players. The admins there are the friendliest bunch i have ever met. Since they are still in BETA they haven’t been advertising, but you may as well check it out because they are bringing out stunning new features very often.

I think level creators will be big
    but maybe not game makers
because currently there is yet to be any truly impressive games created like that but my mind might change as soon as we see an game that is original and good that was created over the internet.
